It seems this project is inactive: the author doesn't respond either here or by email.
But, in any case, it's great that nostalgic fans of old games can now jump around in this game, at least in the original levels. Because I thought this game had long since been lost to history.
I tried importing old custom levels. But many of them have problems with launching or at the very end:
1. The graphical interface (number of lives, timer) is not displayed.
2. At the end of the level, the game simply freezes.
3. When importing some levels, an error message appears: "The color value cannot be greater than 255".
It is also not very convenient to manually create a file with a list of levels. Especially if errors occur during import (for example, the above problem with incorrect recognition of the level structure).
Thank you for this HD remake! Happyland Adventures is a part of my childhood, and this remake is pretty good.
However, there are three things I noticed that don't sit well with me:
Please fix these for the next update, and thanks again for this HD remake.
Have you tried connecting third-party levels?
I have so far come to the understanding that in order to add third-party levels to the game, they need to be distributed into folders. In each folder, you need to add a file indicating the order of the levels (first the main ones, then the bonus ones).
Then you need to show this file to the converter and it will recode this group of levels and add it to the game.
I found it inconvenient that there are no instructions. I understood the above by studying my collection of levels from the old version of the game.
But, overall, a decent port. I still hoped that the author of the original game would do something similar. But the author of the original made a re-release only for his shooters. And this game does not exist. So when I accidentally found a mention of this port, it was great.
To make the game more accessible to the current audience, I suggest adding support for multiple languages. In the old game, this was not possible. But Unity is clearly better at this.
I can help with text in multiple languages.
You can also remove the installation wizard, since the game can most likely run portable (it seems that this site thinks that the author hides bad code in the installer, but I checked it in Virustotal and a good antivirus: the files are safe).
Judging by the first levels, this is a great port of an old game. I sometimes launched the original game. But this is terrible, because the original screen resolution was normal for the year 1995...
